Dolomites: UNESCO HERITAGE
The UN organization program for education, culture and science , which was born November 4th , 1945, has declared the Dolomites UNESCO world heritage and registered them in the World Heritage List. Actually Italy has the record for the biggest number of sites on that list, 42 of them registered in the cultural heritage and two in the natural heritage. The procedures to register it , from 2004 to 2009, brought the Dolomites to this important award. The UNESCO heritage of the Dolomites is made of 9 systems that form a selected group known all over the World. 43%of the heritage is placed in Belluno county, and “Parco Nazionale Dolomiti Bellunesi “ is part of it as well.
